Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data the Film Queue mobile app (the "App", "we") collects, how it is used and stored, and what rights you have as a user. By using the App you agree to the terms below.

1. Data we collect

To operate the App we store:

• Account credentials. Sign-in is done through Google. We receive and store your account identifier, email address, display name and (if available) avatar URL.
• Profile and preferences. Age range, interface language, taste preferences and selected streaming services.
• In-app activity. "Watched" / "watch later" state, participation in shared sessions, swipes, matches and final votes.
• Analytics events (optional). Anonymised interface events and aggregated errors, used to improve the product.

2. Data we do NOT collect

• Precise location.
• Contacts or the phone book.
• Date of birth or social-profile data.
• Analytics never stores your email, room/session codes, movie titles or descriptions, or other sensitive fields.

Movie metadata is requested from an external catalog and is not copied into our user database.

3. Analytics

Analytics is first-party only. We do not use third-party trackers, advertising SDKs or third-party analytics (such as Sentry, PostHog or ad networks). Analytics is enabled by default to help us improve the product and can be turned off at any time in the profile (the "Analytics" section). Only anonymised interface events and aggregated errors are collected; this data is not shared with third parties.

4. How we use data

• Authentication and keeping your account in sync across devices.
• Movie matching, shared selection and running shared sessions.
• Saving your preferences and pick history.
• Improving the stability and usability of the App (analytics).

5. Data processors (third parties)

We share the minimum data necessary with the following infrastructure providers:

• Supabase — database hosting, authentication and backend.
• Google — account sign-in (OAuth) and distribution via Google Play.
• The Movie Database (TMDB) — source of movie metadata (no personal data of yours is shared).

6. Retention and deletion

Operational data is kept only as long as needed to run the App. Analytics events are deleted automatically after 180 days.

You can export your data and permanently delete your account at any time from the "Legal information" screen inside the App. Account deletion cascades to your preferences, content state, session memberships, votes and analytics events.

7. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy. The current version is always available at this address; the last-updated date is shown at the top of the page.
